7.2.6. Divestment Policy
IGU does not have a direct or indirect investment policy targeting energy sources based on fossil fuels such as coal and oil, which have high carbon emissions and adversely affect environmental sustainability. Considering environmental and social impact criteria is a fundamental principle among the University's investment priorities, and there is no funding, partnership, or sponsorship policy targeting carbon-intensive energy industries. Instead, in line with its institutional sustainability goals, the University prioritizes increasing the use of renewable energy and investing in environmentally friendly technologies. This approach demonstrates that the University prioritizes environmentally friendly choices not only in energy investments but also throughout its strategic planning processes. In this regard, the Sustainability Training Policy, Environment Policy, Sustainable Procurement and Supplier Policy, Policy for Waste Management and Reducing Environmentally Hazardous Products, Water Management Policy, Research and Development Policies and Policy of Sustainability Research have established energy efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly technologies, and the transition to renewable energy as strategic objectives. In addition, under the Additional Policies, Renovation and Sustainable Resources Policy and The Policy for Carbon Emissions and Nature Conservation are actively in force. These policies contribute to reducing the University's environmental impacts, increasing its contribution to society, and achieving long-term sustainable development goals.
